The concept of "family" in contemporary Russian proverbs(In the view of Turkish students)

Proverbs, which have different structures from each other and are formed only with a few words, but have a lot of meanings, constitute a part of linguistics. In our study, contemporary Russian proverbs which the concept of "family" have been scanned by the view of Turkish student. In the first part of our study, the information about the proverbs which are our basic materials and the situation and importance of the proverbs in the structural analysis of Russian and Turkish culture have been given subsequently the information about the subject, the purpose, the scope, the material and the method that is used. We also refer to the meaning, origins, methods and field of use of the word "concept" which is an English term and which has recently used in Turkish language. Except this, we had the opportunity to study the concept of "worldview" with all details, because language plays the most active role in the formation of a worldview. The understanding of the world varies from language to language. The second chapter constitute the main part of our thesis. In this chapter unlike other studies, proverbs accepted as self-transformers of the culture are dealt with in context of family. By analyzing the proverbs in which the concept of the family, we were able to have knowledge about the characteristics, roles and responsibilities of the family members, and also their duty, communities, and behavior with each other, so that we had information about their cultures by comparing their positive and negative aspects. Thus, these words in the language of that society not only are the linguistic elements, but also have become the determinative position. In our study, we have analyzed proverbs both in linguistic and cultural terms. The purpose of our thesis is to contribute to the studies done in this discipline. In addition to this, Russian proverbs in the concept of "family" and their Turkish meanings have been written in last part. We think that our study is contribute to other studies about the proverbs.
