The language that is the socio – cultural medium of the communities and the linguistic entities composine any language become, definitely, the most prominent factor in the sight of society. Accordingly, these phenomenas deserve to be investigated deeply and thought critically because of both their function and importance in communication. The aim of this work is to focus on the verb and categories by starting with words firstly, that surround the sentence and the expressions, and the category of the verb in particular, especially in Russian language. Especially with the help of these selected examples from the literary works and the diagrams and tables related to the subject, the verb modal category in Russian language has been tried to be examined with all the functional, semantic and formal aspects. During the study has been carried out the point of view of Turkish students learning Russian language as a foreign language has been taken into consideration. In this regard, scientific researches and studies related to the subject in both Russian language and other world languages have been examined. Findings show that in Russian language, the verbs moods have been the subjectof a number of changes in quantity and quality over time. They have been situated a different place because of their some specific characteristics apart from other languages and the moods of Russian language on the contemporary level is examined under three basic headings. We think that this study is useful for those who learn Russian language, especially those who are in the process of second language Acquisition.
