Abstract (EN)

The scope of this dissertation is based on iconoclastic aesthetics of director Romeo Castellucci and the reception strategy created by this aesthetics. Romeo Castellucci makes visible the hidden/covered aspects of images and icons by employing iconoclastic aesthetics, without detaching them from their cultural and historical contexts entirely, but by deconstructing or breaking them. By doing so Castellucci presents torn apart and broken conditions of images to the audience. This approach also means to disrupt conventional representation aesthetics. This study broadens the discussion on contemporary shift from words to images in Castellucci's plays. Dramaturgic and receptive proposals of the aesthetical approach of Castellucci are also in the scope of discussion of this dissertation.
