Abstract (EN)
In the context of contemporary art, the concept 'Archaic Vision' refers to the case ofthe artist subject, tending towards production practices that come from the archaic time in the collective unconscious, rather than the production practices proposed by the age. The concept of vision here means perspective. While determining the practice, the contemporary artist interprets the archaic people from a spiritual point of view and establishes identifications with her/his subject, trying to experience an intertemporal situation, instead of analyzing, monitoring and imitating archaic people from a scientific point of view. Acording to Jung, there is an archaic person deep inside everyone's soul, and basically we all have acommon unconscious (collective unconscious). Aby Warburg has analyzed this situation withthe concept of 'pathosformel' in the context of art history. Archaic people experienced theirfirst great tragedy when they faced the phenomenon of death, and felt the need for oscillationin order to make sense of life and cope with their fears. Therefore, they resorted to myths andrituals. The cave paintings of the Upper Paleolithic period that fascinated us were produced onthe basis of this origin. We have later called these life experiences of archaic people as'Primive art. In this context, the art and the artist are both fictions. With civilization, especially in modern and postmodern times, the subject is a frustrated individual, who has losther/his reality, who does not know what s/he wants because of overproduction, and who hasdifficulty in connecting with what s/he has. In this context, the contemporary artist may tendtowards producing stereotypical works that s/he does not internalize. However, the subjectartist can respond to the most basic stimuli ofher/his own unconscious and experienceintertemporal experiences if s/he wishes, rather than experiencing what her/his age offersher/him. The project titled "Diary", which was realized as a product of this thesis work titled "The Artist Subject in Contemporary Art and Archaic Vision", has been shaped in the light of the aforementioned concepts. The project was made with fusain that's the charcoal material obtained from the burnt wood and using the painting technique. This technique of the project is generally applying to walls and large surfaces. The "Diary" project has a peculiar image dictionary and images of the project are also the product of a stream-of-consciousness performative practice.
