Human in Cahit Irgat's poem

It is almost impossible to answer the questions of "Who and what is human?" However, the "human" can be defined using their functions, referring to their unique valuable features that distinguish them from an object. In this sense, the state of destroying and making sense of the world is associated with the human's functions and occurs as a result of their choices. The feature that distinguishes the human from other living things is their thinking and transforming their thoughts into action. This study aims to reveal the concept of "human" in Cahit Irgat's poems in all its functional aspects. In his poems, Irgat conveys the psychological, sociological and philosophical states of human beings to the reader through connotation. Thus, the reader kneads narrative fictions in Irgat's poems with his intellectual imagination by moving towards the past. In his poems, Irgat defines the human based on their positive characteristics and seeks an answer to himself with the questions he directs to human beings. To get this answer, he reveals the functional characteristics of human beings by using inductive methods. Therefore, the titles of this study are explained by starting from the inductive method and an interdisciplinary study is conducted by preserving the inspiration that the poet has received from social sciences. Almost all of Cahit Irgat's poems are handled and evaluated in this study, allowing the poet's literary to be better understood and recognized in literature. Thus, the poems taken from the dusty shelves of our literature are re-introduced to the reader with the aim of revitalizing their place in our literature.
