Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACT Artists of Çallı Era frequently used architecture and architectural items, sometimes as the main subjects and sometimes as enhancers and supporters of the main subject. When we examine the paintings which they painted both in domestic and foreign locations, we can see that they worked more than once in nearly the same places, from the same angles. It is hard to say that there is a specific art style and a common artistic trend for this era's artists, who are known as 1914 Era of Turkish Paint Artists, Çallı Era, Constitutional Era, and Turkish Impressionists. In their paintings, it is common that one may discover the lines, perspectives and contours of Academism, fıgures with traditional clothes and Islamic Architecture of Orientalism, and the socio-realist attitude of Realism which shows the items broken, worn-out, and disorganized as they are without idealising them. The principal of working iıth nature as seen through the Impressionists and Barbizon School ıs apparent. Furthermore, the expression of Romatism which highlights human emotions, and the fantastic patterns of Idealism which are figments of imagination can be discovered. Abstract expressions of Symbolism, the lively, significant contoured, free from object colours of Fovizm, the art language of Expressionism which has exaggeration and detortion, coloured intensly and separated to geometrical forms like cylinders and squares as in Post-Impressionist Cezanne are further evıdenced. When we study the paintings of Callı Era with architectural subjects, we may see that they had similar -even the same- subjects, compositions and styles with the European Artists which they were influenced by in the exhibitons and museums which they visited durıng their education in Paris and their overseas journeys. In these paintings, the towers reaching skies, churches and boats in paintings of Europan Artists were replaced by minarets, mosques and sandals. This may be infered as basic doctrine of Julien Academy and Academy of Fıne Arts - Paris whıch was guided by artistic guadiance of Neo-Classical Artist Ingre ın whıch the artists of this era were educated.
