Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze the relationship between organizational commitment and employee job performance. More specifically, this study explores the link between Organizational Commitment and Employee Performance in a medium-scale firm, active in the services sector. The sample consists of 77 employees which include all of the Sales Representatives working in the Operations Department in a branch office which has recently commenced business. All analysis of the ?Organizational Commitment? and ?Performance Management? surveys have been performed by using SPSS 15.0 software. Frequencies, One Sample Kolmogorov-Simirnov, Kuruskal Wallis, Correlate-Bivariate Spearman?s, Mann Whitney-U and Chi-Square tests were also used to analyze the surveys. With respect to demographic factors, the findings indicate that there is a meaningful relationship only between gender and organiztional commitment. This research also indicates that there is a meaningful relationship between organizational commitment and various performance evaluation criterion namingly: ?being service-focused?, ?being able to work under pressure? and ? ability to emphasize priorities/time and resource management?. The findings of this study show that the organizational commitment and performance average of the subject firm are relatively high. Amongst the performance criterion used during the survey; attendance and punctuality to office hours have portrayed the highest ratings. Throughout the firm?s lifespan of 8 months, turnover has reflected a low percentage and ?ability to work under pressure? has shown an above average rating. In today?s world, Intellectual Capital is increasingly gaining priority, hence, the recommendation that can be given to firms is to emphasize the importance of increasing Organizational Commitment. Even though increasing Organizational Commitment may not directly be related to performance, it indirectly provides added value to the firm. Keywords: Organizational Commitment, Performance Management, Human Resources Management
