Being disabled women in working life:Alanya case

In the historical process, it is a very important issue for women with disabilities who are subjected to double discrimination due to their disabilities and their genders and who are pushed out of society to gain social gathering for social integration. One of the most important factors in ensuring this social integration is working life. The fact that working life is accepted as an environment in which each individual can realize himself, and most importantly, he will reveal his skills, is in fact an indication of how important this factor is.It is also necessary for each individual to be recognized as a right to work. In particular, disadvantaged women, especially those with disabilities who are subjected to double discrimination, take a more active role in the working life, thus providing them with the opportunity to benefit from their own human rights as well as to find their own skills.Thus, if we consider these situations, it can be seen how important and important the employment of these individuals is. This study was conducted to identify the reasons for the lower employment of disabled women in working life.In addition, putting the thoughts and ideas of disabled women into working life is one of the goals of the study.Through the qualitative methodology, face-to-face interviews with 23 disabled women living in the Alanya region were conducted and information was collected.When the findings were examined, it is seen that the income levels of the majority of interviewed persons were very low.It has also been found that the majority of participants have low education levels.However, it has been determined that the obstacles to the entry of disabled women into working life are education, family, sex and having children.At the same time, it has been observed that working women with disabilities also meet with mobbing, sexual harassment and pay discrimination, and this situation has been determined to be the reason for their departure from working life.
