Abstract (EN)
Mobbing refers to continuous disturbances given to the individual by one or more than a single employee in working life and exhibition of unethical mode of conduct to the individual. Mobbing, as a pejorative factor influencing work peace and efficiency, has been the subject of many scientific research in the EU countries for the 20 years, in particular, among the Scandinavian countries. Studies, in regard to mobbing, have also been on the rise in Turkey. The research of mobbing in relation to its detriments to the individual organization and society in each and every respect will shed light on the identification of the source and determination of measures to avoid the term ?mobbing?.The objective of research is to elucidate if employees working in the public sector of the province of Manisa are subject to mobbing and whether they experience different dimensions of mobbing. In such respect, variables, including gender, age, education, marital status and place of appointment have impact on the mobbing processes of employees. The sampling of the study has been drawn from 10 public sector units, consisting of 678 public personnel at province of Manisa. Questionnaires have been utilized a mean in the data-gathering process. Employees have expressed their opinions within the research framework coupled with 56 questions inspired from the Leymann?s mobbing typology. The first 51 items in scales have been targeted to find out dimensions of mobbing. Dimensions of mobbing have been determined as its appearance and its impact on formation of communication, assault on social relations, attacks on prestige, life quality and assault on occupational status, attack on health and ramifications of mobbing. The very last items on the questionnaire have been inclusive of demographic variables. The results of the study indicate that public sector employees in general do not experience an intense mobbing. However, while age variable has been found out to have impact on the mobbing?s appearance dimension, educational level variable has been identified to have a significant relation with the variable ramifications of mobbing. In addition to the stated findings, marital status variable has had an impact on the assault on prestige and assault on health status and place of appointment has been analyzed to have a statistically meaningful relation on the mode of mobbing appearance and assault on health variables. Public sector employees have complained about underestimation of their achievements and exaggeration of their failures and limitations in regard to the exhibition of their knowledge and skills. In terms of comparisons, from the point view of mobbing acts, employees who are 30 years of age and below, single female, high school and university graduates, have scored higher than other on the mobbing scales.
