Fiberglass and fiber art applications

Currently fiber art applications within the scope of art involve a continuous search for different materials. Fiberglass, among accessible resources and industrial products, used as insulation material due to resistance and inflammable qualities, and as composite material in architectural elements, is used in this thesis application. Experimental processes in the trials observed fiberglass gained volume, was paintable and could take different forms when combined with polyester and hardener. As a result, the decision was made to use fiberglass in applications within the scope of fiber art. Within this scope, the thesis comprises three sections and is the first thesis study within the art field attempting to provide detailed information about fiberglass and technical qualities.
