Özet (EN)
Faucets are essential components in plumbing systems, providing control and direction of water flow, and they play a significant role in both functionality and aesthetics. In this thesis, the feasibility of using glass fiber reinforced Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS-GF) thermoplastic composite as an alternative to the traditionally used brass material in the production of faucet inner bodies has been experimentally investigated. Within the scope of the study, the high thermal resistance, chemical resistance, dimensional stability, and mechanical properties of PPS-GF were evaluated. Inner body prototypes produced by the injection molding method were compared with brass counterparts in terms of production process, performance tests (mechanical, corrosion, and flow), and cost analysis. The findings revealed that glass fiber reinforced PPS composites offer significant advantages, particularly in terms of lightness, corrosion resistance, ease of production, and environmental benefits. In this respect, the study provides a scientific contribution to the use of thermoplastic composites as an alternative material to conventional metals in the faucet industry.
