Abstract (EN)
Some elements in rocks, groundwater and soil which has higher values than limits due to not only but also industrial usages can make negative impacts on human health. Many studies have been done due to natural geological structure of the pollutants on human health effects recently. Within the scope of this study, the assessment of relationship between people living in Çan, whose blood an hair As-Pb and Hg values and groundwater. In the study area, five different lithological units are determined according to characteristics of the rocks and previous studies. Upper Cretaceous aged Çetmi Ophiolitic Melange constitutes the basement of the area. Late Oligocene-Miocene aged Evciler Pluton cuts the basement rocks. These units are overlain uncomformably by the Çan Volcanics. In the study area, these volcanic rocks are overlain with a disconformity by Lower?Middle Miocene aged Çan Formation and Quaternary alluvium overlies all the units unconformably.Determining of the negative impacts of groundwater on human health which come from geological structures of study area. In the study area, we interviewed with women over age of 40, who haven?t smoked before and haven?t eaten any fish last three days in their diet. From these women, blood and hair samples were collected. Together with these samples also twenty nine water sampling locations were selected in the study area. Water sampling locations were named between Ç001 and Ç029. These water sample temperatures are between 8,5?19,8 0C, electrical conductivity (EC) values are 94-1888 µS/cm and pH values are 4,9?8,05. According to the result of hydrogeochemical investigations, these samples are generally Ca-Mg-HCO3 and Na-Ca-SO4 water type.Blood and hair samples which collected from the women in the study area were examine about arsenic and lead. Blood and hair samples? arsenic and lead values were compared water samples? arsenic and lead values. According to this comparison, water samples? arsenic-lead values and blood and hair samples? arsenic-lead values are shown the similarities. On the other hand, in Çan?s villages? blood and hair samples? arsenic values are higher than Çan?s center?s. Lead values are higher in Çan?s center. Higher values of lead pointed that Çan Basin has a close basin structure and the other pollutants has an active role in the study area.According to the results of this study, mining activities in area will influence the human healthy. Geological formations may have also features to affect the human health. It?s important that when choosing the settling area, geological formations should be assessed and take accuse about the influence of people in bad way.
