Abstract (EN)
The global environmental transformations characterizing the transition from the Late Pleistocene to the Early Holocene triggered significant ecological shifts across various regions. While the timing and magnitude of these changes varied geographically, their impact on the socio-ecological systems of human populations was profound. The technical and cognitive frameworks established during the preceding foraging and hunting-based economies provided the foundation for the Neolithization process. Located in the Upper Tigris Basin, Gusir Höyük represents a significant settlement inhabited during the Pre-Pottery Neolithic period. Situated in close proximity to the Tigris River and immediately west of Gusir Lake, the site's location underscores a strategic reliance on riparian and lacustrine resources. The settlement's spatial organization reflects a deliberate engagement with these water systems. This research digitizes the archaeological datasets of Gusir Höyük to conduct a comprehensive spatial analysis. Utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS), the distribution of indoor and outdoor finds was examined alongside an analysis of archaeological fills to interpret shifts in spatial utilization and find assemblages. Although the scope extends beyond architectural remains, structural analyses were performed on selected buildings to provide proxy data for understanding developmental changes. Ultimately, this study offers a detailed temporal evaluation of the dynamic relationship between human societies and their built environment.
