Annual changes on yield of alginate from some brown algae in Bosphorus of Çanakkale (Çanakkale, Turkey)

In this research, was aimed determining of alginate production from Cladostephus spongiosus f. verticillatus (Lightfoot) Prud'homme van Reine, Colpomenia sinuosa, (Mertens ex Roth) Derbès & Solier, Cystoseira barbata (Stackhouse) C. Agardh, Dictyota dichotoma (Hudson) J.V. Lamouroux, D. Linearis (C. Agardh) Greville, Mesogloia lanosa P.L. Crouan & H.M. Crouan, Padina pavonica (Linnaeus) Thivy , Petalonia fascia (C. Agardh) G. Hamel, Sargassum vulgare C. Agardh, Stypocaulon scoparium (Linnaeus) Kützing, Scytosiphon lomentaria (Lyngbye) Link, Zanardinia prototypus (Nardo) Nardo collected during the 12 months between the May 2009 and April 2010 from different stations of Bosphorus of Çanakkale.It has been used method of Na Alginate for measuring the yield of alginate produced from algae in the research.November, the lowest yield (%22) on January Sargassum vulgare; the highest yield (%21) on June, the lowest yield (%12) on March from Colpomenia sinuosa so in future Cystoseira barbata and Cladostephus spongiosus f. verticillatus can to be use for alginate production.Keywords: Brown algae, alginate, Bosphorus of Çanakkale.
