The investigation of monthly changes of pomological and phenological parameters of strawberry tree (Arbutus unedo L.) existed in Çanakkale natural flora

In this research, changes in phenological, pomological and biochemical properties of strawberry trees (Arbutus unedo L.) existed frequently in lands of Canakkale were carried out. For this purpose trees belong to strawberry tree were selected from the natural flora of Atikhisar and Umurbey regions. Some phenological, pomological and biochemical parameters on these selected trees and their fruits investigated monthly. Phenological properties observed were initial blossom date, full blossom date and end of blossom date.. Furthermore flower-end width, simple flower length and flower-end aperture width, fruit width, fruit length, fruit weight, skin color, flesh color were determined as pomological parameters. Moreover some biochemical properties such as total phenolic compounds, vitamin C content, titratable acidity and soluble solids content were determined. In addition some soil properties in areas where strawberry trees exist naturally were investigated. According to the results no significant differences were observed in initial blossom date and full blossom date between locations. Besides the flower properties were not different due to the location. However significant differences were determined in pomological and biochemical parameters between locations. Furthermore significant differences were fixed between sampling periods in terms of pomological and biochemical properties.
