Abstract (EN)

INVESTIGATION THE IMPACT OF OPEN WASTE DISPOSAL SITE ON SURFACE AND GROUNDWATER USING APPLIED GEOPHYSICAL METHODS Ebru ŞENGÜL ABSTRACT The purpose of this study is to investigate vertical and horizontal limits of the pollution, leaking from Çanakkale Open Waste Disposal Site into the soil, and groundwater. To accomplish this study, several geophysical and hydro-geochemical studies were used. Geophysical studies were carried out in three different profiles, by using DC Resistivity, Self-Potential and Seismic Refraction methods. Three investigation wells were drilled to major and minor element analyzes were performed on soil samples. In addition to them, EC, pH levels were measured on the soil samples collected along the profile 1. Also, water samples were collected and As, Cd, Pb, and Zn concentration levels were determined In summary, the result of combined geophysical and hydro-geochemical works has suggested that pollution has reached to depth of 3-4 m along the investigation profiles. Keywords: Waste disposal site; Resistivity, Leakage, Groundwater contamination. II
