Çanakkale city story and the Calvert family

The history of the city of Çanakkale and the region where the city is located, as evidenced by the findings obtained from research conducted in the region, dates back to the times when humans first made tools. Today, small settlements in fertile plains covered with vast forests that are ruthlessly destroyed, containing hot and cold water sources filtering through valuable minerals, and fed by streams originating from mountains, have turned into cities over thousands of years. Troy is one of these cities. In ancient times, Homer conveyed the legend of the "Trojan War" to the rulers of his time, and over time, the legend, which was written down, is considered the first literary work to have survived to the present day. The origin of Western Literature and history is sought in Troy. For hundred of years, travelers have come to the region in search of the treasure hidden in this legend. The treasure is the region itself. The Calvert Family settled in these lands, which were the source of the ancient legends that formed the basis of their education, from Malta in the 1830s. During the peak of England's expansion into the world, the region was an important transition point fort he East and West, the North and South, and also for scientists. The six brothers and one sister, members of the Calvert Family, who were knowledgeable and experienced in all areas of diplomacy and spoke many languages, played an active role in the last periods of the Ottoman Empire for many years.
