Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTThis study presents the some heavy metals (Fe, Cu, Ni, Zn) that are in highconcentrations in Sarıçay to effect amphipoda Gammarus insensibilis, decapodaCarcinus aestuarii and mollusk Dreissena polymorpha. LD50 values were determinedfor Fe, Cu, Ni, Zn using toxicity methods for these species in laboratory conditions.LD50 values determined in this study were compared with the heavy metalconcentrations determined in water in the previously studies and also revealed thatwhether previously determined values are in toxic limits for organisms In result, forthese four heavy metals toxics effects on Gammarus insensibilis Fe>Cu>Zn>Nirespectively, on Carcinus aestuarii Fe>Cu>Ni>Zn respectively and on Dreissenapolymorpha Fe>Cu>Ni>Zn respectively. Thus, previously determined Feconcentration in water have been seen to reach LD50 determined in this study, on theother hand Cu, Ni, Zn did not reach to critical values yet.Key words: Iron, copper, nickel, zinc, Gammarus insensibilis, Carcinus aestuarii,Dreissena polymorpha, Ecotoxicology, Sariçay, Çanakkale. The present Master science thesis was supported by COMU/BAP under the project noof 2005-97
