Abstract (EN)

Woven art is one of the most important inventions of the humankind. This art branch; has shown important improvent with Turks, and come today with a constant development from the ancient times to nowadays with new woven techniques according to the needs of the time.Çanakkale is one of the most important weaving centres. It has reached from the ancient times to nowadays with a development. Carpet weaving, classical weaving and fabric weaving are the most important woven of the region. Carpet weaving and classical weaving are more common than the others. Fabric weavings are made to meet the needs of the community. The ground clothes seen in the region shows the efficacy of West Anatolia weaving. Especially at carpet weavings we can see the effect of thee Bergama carpets on the themes and compositions. Classical weavings although they carry some common parts with Anatolian weavings as in the carpet weavings they mostly resemble West Anatolian weavings. The fabric weavings made in the region are made using ?bez ayağı? weaving technique. These weavings do not show different samples like the ones made in Anatolia. These fabrics are made for the daily needs of the community, not for continuous manifacturing. As a clothing , ?çendil?, shirts and pants can be said.Wool, cotton, and hair are used in weaving. The wool and hair are acquired from the sheep and goats breed there. Making rope from the wool and hair shows some regional specialities but they also have similarities with other regions of Anatolia. Cotton ropes are bought and used.At carpet and classical weavings vertical wrapping workbenchs; at fabric weavings some other workbenchs called ?çulfalık? are used. Scissors, sword and ?kirkit? (a kind of reed) are some other tools used.Recently there isn't any weaving activity done in the region. These weavings has taken their place in Turkish weaving art. We hope that this study will be a guide in researching and investigating the weavings and gaining them again.
