Abstract (EN)

Posidonia oceanica (L.) Delile species has a very high spread in Mediterranean and Aegean Sea. This seagrass's vegetative parts are very suitable substrates for lots of epiphytic organisms. This species composes very large communities and these communities increases the biodiversity of the areas which P. oceanica meadow exist. The aim of this study, determine the epiphyte species blong to green, brown, red algae and reveal the distrubution of epiphytic algae in Aegean Sea. P. oceanica seagrass communities were determined at the near seashore of the Aegean Sea (Çandarlı, Yeni Foça, Eski Foça, Urla İskele, Teos, Kuşadası) and these areas were selected for sampling. Physico-chemical parameters of water column were mesured, samples were collected between the dates October 2009 - November 2010 with skin-diving and specification of the epiphytic algae were practiced by using related literature. As a result of this study, 12 green algae, 13 brown algae and 49 red algae were identified and the rolae of P. oceanica meadow on its spread areas' biodiversity. On the other hand, Polysiphonia atlantica Kapraun & J.N. Norris and Spermothamnion johannis Feldmann-Mazoyer taxas from red algae and Chaetomorpha indica (Kützing) Kützing from green algae are indicated for the first time for 'The Marine Algae Flora of Turkey Coasts'.
