An investigation on family and person nikcnames in Çankırı and its environs

In this study, the history, ethnic structure, cultural and geographical features of Çankırı were explained, then, on the basis of onomastics, naming in Turks, the definition of nickname and the stories of giving it were emphasized.The tradition of giving nicknames in the central and district villages of Çankırı was mentioned, and anecdotes, which were the source of our study, were compiled by interviewing the source people.The nicknames obtained through the source persons were classified according to the way they are used in the region without any intervention. As a result of the information and experiences heard from the source people, the effect of the migrations on the nicknames was discussed.
