Temporal change of green space and building areas of Çankiri city

Today, unplannedurbanization is gaining anincreasing momentum as a result of rapid population growt hand increasing urbanization. In order to prevent this situation, It is of great importance to determine and evaluate the current-pastsituation of the field uses temporally and spatially. One of themostappropriateandrealisticways of doingthis is touselandchangemonitoringtechniques using satellite images. In the study carried out within the boundaries of the development plan of 2974.17ha, Satellite images of different years were examined using Geographical Information Systems, the spatial and temporal change of the field uses has been determined in the whole area and 402.66hectares where the city center is located. Manual classification was made of the city center of Çankırı with using GIS with Google Earth satellite images of 2009 and 2019. In the study were examined the reasons for the change in land use and suggestions have been made.
