Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT In this study effect of traditional and constructivist approach of teaching methods on students' learning is searched in "Diversity and Classification of Organisms" chapter. This research was applied to 9l grade students of Keçiören High School, in A and C classes, and İncirli High School A class. İn the teaching of "Diversity and Classification of Organisms" chapter, two experimental and control groups are constitued according to their cognitive structure level. "The Diversity and Classification of Organisms" chapter is teached by traditional teaching in control groups and constructivist approach in experimental groups. Experimental design with pretest-posttest control group has been used. Data collecting tools that were used in research are Test of Locical Thinking and Diversity and Classification of Organisms Achievement Test. Data that were obtained by collecting data tools consisting of the test mentioned above were analysed by using t-test for independent groups, t-test for dependent groups and ANCOVA in SPSS package programme. As a result of data analysis the experimental groups which are teached by constructivist approach have more success than other groups.
