Özet (EN)

Mandible has an anthropometric importance due to its functions in actions such as speaking and chewing, as well as some anatomical structures it has. Forming the jaw, the central component of the face, mandible also plays an important role in facial aesthetics. Computer tomography images of 88 people, including 41 women between the ages of 18 and 55 and 47 men between the ages of 18 and 72, were used in the study. The measurements were made on three-dimensional computer tomography images on the horizontal plane. Bizygion width of the face and right and left face widths were measured. The bicondylar width of mandibulae, the width between right and left proc. coronoideus, the angles, right and left separately, between the line that combines the center of caput mandible with proc. coronoideus and the line that combines both caput mandibles with each other on the horizontal plane (right and left A angles), the angles, right and left separately, between the line that intersects caput mandible and proc. coronoideus and the line on the long axis of the carpus mandible (right and left B angles), the angle between the right caput mandible spina mentalis and the left caput mandible (angle C) and the intercondylar angle were measured. Bizygion length, right face width, left face width, bicondylar width and the width between right and left proc. coronoideus were statistically significantly longer in men (p<0.05) compared to women, whereas C angle was statistically significantly larger in women (p<0.05) than it was in men. In men, the right B angle turned out to be statistically significantly larger than the left B angle (p<0.05). In women, the right face width and right B angle were statistically significantly larger than their respective values on the left side (p<0.05) Consequently, determining the transversion angles mandible and its relation with facial width has great importance.
