Abstract (EN)

In this study, Carl Stamitz, Op.1, D Major Viola Concerto, which is one of the fundamental works played by viola artists/students in the professional/school exams, is examined by means of a multidimensional analytical view comprised of dimensions as formal and harmonic structure, sentences, (interactions of nuances and orchestration and harmony with) large scale musical sentences and the thematic-motivic-rhythmic connections. In this study it is revealed that the first movement of this concerto which is in Sonata Allegro form deserves to be one of the most fundamental works in the viola repertoire in terms of its rigorous and intellectual thematic-motific patterns and sophisticated formal approach, in addition to its well-known technical features. This study is expected to help performers in understanding the structure and subtleties of the movement and interpreting the work/movement in a sound way.
