Interlaboratory comparison and proficiency testing for tensile, impact and hardness tests and assessment of the tests

Inter-laboratory comparisons and proficiency testing is widely available in many purposes. This comparison is done for increasing the reliability of laboratories and international recognition. Inter-laboratory comparison tests have an essential role for not only for companies but also many organizations and institutions. Those tests are required in order to maintain the continuity of the accredited institutions. For non-accredited laboratories, those tests demonstrate the currents sate and position of the laboratories. Furthermore, laboratories are able to make required regulations after testing. Today, accreditation is not compulsory in material testing laboratories. Therefore, many of them continue to test without accreditation. In this study, importance of accreditation and uncertainty of measurement are explained to laboratories. As the consequence of tests and studies, better results of accredited laboratories than the other laboratories are observed. By virtue of those tests, non-accredited laboratories can perceive the difference. In this study, inter-laboratory comparisons are made for tensile and impact test at room temperature and Rockwell C hardness test (HRC). Then, detailed report is prepared by using test results. Moreover, comments and explanations related to these results are written. According to test results, propositions and inferences are made and milestones of inter-laboratory comparisons and proficiency testing are underlined for the following studies.
