Celal Nuri İleri's concept of ethic

Some of the main problems in the field of Philosophy of Religion are morality-philosophy and religion-morality relations. In almost every period of the past, intellectual people have put forward various opinions on these issues. In this study, we tried to give information about the morality of Celal Nuri İleri, one of the writers and intellectuals of the Republic period, who had a very strong literary and intellectual life. The purpose of our study is to examine Celal Nuri İleri's views on morality and the solutions he offered to the moral problems of the period. Celal Nuri İleri is an intellectual person who witnessed the last period of the Ottoman Empire where great changes took place and the first years of the Republic. He is an important figure on behalf of the establishment of the Republic and the Turkish revolutions. According to him, the issue of morality is the most important reason for the collapse of the Ottoman Empire. Celal Nuri argues that the past should be investigated in order to rehabilitate morality, while the dominant moral understanding of the period in which he lived in was gathered in two different main points, religion-oriented and irreligious. Considering that the deterioration of the economy has an impact on the deterioration of morality, the author also considers the attempt to integrate modern western morality into Turkish society without filtering as one of the main factors in the deterioration of morality. As a solution proposal, he basically suggested that women and the family would be re-educated within the framework of religious rules and would form the basis of morality. In addition, he emphasized that simply and smoothly instilling national values and goals to the people would be effective in people's return to national moral values. Essentially, he argued that religion should do a total reform work on all issues of nation, morality, state and government.
