Abstract (EN)
Connections are the most important contributor to the general ductile behavior of a steel framed structure. Most of them are constructed with moment transferring capability. These moment transferring connections can be grouped in three main configuration types. Connections with stiffened depth end plate only, haunched connections and combined type. In this study a 3D detailed parametric model based on finite element method is developed in order to resolve and compare the ultimate moment capacity of these different types. Effects of column and beam stiffeners, bolt and hole diameters, end plate thickness are investigated in detail in an automated manner.
