Abstract (EN)

This study focus on to develop a new connection type which is based on plastic design principles. For this purpose two steel profiles are connected by a brittle material,CFRP, and tested under 4 point loading. Moment rotation capacity of minimum 3 is investigated on these CFRP connected beams. 4 steel beam specimen with 4 different length of CFRP are tested. Moment rotation capacity are calculated and it was observed that moment rotation capacity was not sufficient enough for plastic design. It was observed that the fracture was not on the CFRP fibers. The fracture of the connection was because of the debonding of the adhesive between CFRP and steel. It is the author believe that an anchorage detail for bonding CFRP to steel will increase the moment rotation capacity of this new type of connection.
