Abstract (EN)

Regulations, standards and specifications state that when a steel structure is not toppled or tilted over or overturned within the expected life which also includes the assembly process, then that steel structure is said to be stable. The effects of erection processes on the stability of all and stability of the assembled parts and of single parts at all stages of the construction must be considered. Generally the designers' interest is about the finished structure, but failures also occur during the construction of steel structures. Aversion from such failures among other construction tasks are usually thought to be the responsibility of the contractor. Failures during construction are considered mainly as work safety problems. Nevertheless, the designer should specify the bracing during the erection and the construction sequence. The main contractor and the steel erector must implement the construction design and take the necessary measures against important loads such as wind. The designer can determine the places for temporary bracing from stability point of view, even if the design and manufacture of the temporary bracings are left to the contractor or manufacturer. The dismantling of any temporary bracing in a secure way should also be specified. In this paper, the importance of the construction period is emphasized by investigation of a spesific case. Some of the failure cases that occur during construction found in the literature are being investigated. The most common causes during the steel structure assembly are; non-compliance with standards, beginning to assembly without preparing a plan, not using appropriate equipment and not employing qualified personnel. In addition, there have been failures in places where steel structures were assembled without the necessary bracing or where temporary bracing was not made. Finally, lessons can be learned from past events, but this only be possible if we have complete information about these events. In this context, this research has been made on steel structures, and the main focus of the thesis is the examination of steel dome forms and the points to be considered on the installation of dome-shaped space structures, assembly requirements, and ensuring a stable structure. Finally, the analysis of a spesific collapsed structure during assembly and the possible causes of the collapse and the methods and requirements to prevent these were investigated.
