Cem Sultan's mathnawi of Cemşîd ü Hurşîd [Concordance and functional glossary]

Cemşîd u Hurşîd, an important witness of Old Anatolian Turkish before the transition to classical Ottoman Turkish, is an important heritage for the understanding of poets and poetry from all levels of Ottoman poetry. Cemşîd u Hurşîd is the second translation into Turkish of the Persian masnavi Cemşîd ü Hurşîd written by the Iranian poet Selman-ı Saveci and expanded by Sultan Cem. This masnavi, which contains both poetry and story, was translated at the age of 19 by a prince who lived a short life of 36 years and spent his life in exile. There are different projects to understand Ottoman poetry and to make it accessible to a wider audience. This thesis, which was prepared by using the infrastructure of the History and Literature Texts Contextualized Index and Functional Dictionary (TEBDİZ) project, which is built on Ferdinand de Saussure's idea that words gain meaning in context, reveals the vocabulary of Cemşîd u Hurşîd and the data belonging to the poet's fingerprint style. The study consists of an introduction with a literature section, a text analysis section and a conclusion. In the analysis part of the study; The determinations about the archaic words, idioms, proverbs, reduplications, verbs, verses, hadiths and narrations, expressions belonging to the daily spoken language, prayers and phrases in Cemşîd u Hurşîd are presented with numerical data. This section also includes the findings obtained from the literary theory data on the work-reader-artist-society in order to understand the word world of a young prince who is the son of a great genius like Fatih Sultan Mehmet and who wants to be assertive in the country of poetry. Based on the vocabulary of the Masnavi and the meanings of these words in the poem, inferences about the poet's poetry and style are evaluated in the conclusion section of the study. Based on the idea that the style reflects the nature, environment and personality of the artist, the masnavi is evaluated in this section in the light of researchers, tezkires and data.
