Poetic loyalty in the poetry aesthetics of Cemal Süreya: The reciprocity between the poetics and poetry

Poetics are texts that reflect the artistic understanding of poets or literary communities. The practice of poetry is shaped in line with the ideas expressed in poetics. It is only possible to mention consistency and loyalty in the aesthetics of poetry, with the presence of poetics in poetry. A critical method of reading which is based on the dialogue between poetics and poetry, can give rise to new and unique outcomes regarding the loyalty of poets to their poetics and the aesthetics basics of their poems. This work titled "Poetic Loyalty İn The Poetry Aesthetics Of Cemal Süreya: The Reciprocity Between The Poetics And Poetry", is about the analysis of the degree of equivalence between the poetics and poetry of Cemal Süreya, in the axis of conceptualization of "poetic loyalty". Through this analysis, it is aimed to reach to some conclusions about the degree of loyalty of the poet to his poetics and the basis of his poetic aesthetics. For this purpose, the analysis is based on a critical method of reading,which also considers the chronological overlap between the poetics and poetry, if need be. The introduction to the analysis offers a theoretical framework based on the conceptualization of "poetic loyalty", through concepts of poetics and loyalty. The degree of reciprocity between the poetics and poetry of Cemal Süreya, has been studied in three main sections developed on this theoretical grounds, as "Reciprocity İn The Context Of Key İssues", "Reciprocity İn The Context Of 'İmpacts Loop'", and "Reciprocity İn The Context Of Central Concepts". The section headings have been determined based on issues which the poet mainly dealt with. Thus, the study has been shaped mainly in the axis of poetic thoughts and poems of Cemal Süreya, also including topics regarding current poetic classifications. When his poetics and poems are considered together, it is seen that Süreya usually adheres to his views he expressed in his poetics. Occasional inconsistencies and contradictions between his poetics and poetry are caused by the modernist character of his poetic aesthetics which is based on his views of "personality" and "anti -authority". To evaluate his poetics and his poetry together allows us to better understand not just Süreya's loyalty to his poetics, but also the fundamentals of his poetic aesthetics.
