Abstract (EN)

In this research, it is aimed to evaluate Cemil Kavukçu's children's works in terms of the basic principles of children's literature (character, subject, message, language, expression and picture). The analyzes of Kavukçu's 10 works addressed to children aged 9-14 were made through document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. It has been determined that Kavukçu's works are generally competent in terms of the basic principles of children's literature. It has been determined that Kavukçu observes the principles of child-relevance and child reality, deals with topics that may interest children, and that these topics have suitable features in terms of giving children the love and habit of reading. observance was the main factor that enabled this. The main characters, developed through many methods, are individuals with whom child readers can identify well. However, it has been understood that the works include idioms, descriptions and analogies in a way that will increase children's vocabulary, but the works are weak in terms of the presence of proverbs. It has been observed that the messages are of a quality that will develop children's imagination and the pictures in the works mostly embody the narratives. On the other hand, it has been determined that the works are not free from foreign words and randomness and emotional elements that weaken the fiction. At the end of the research, suggestions were made to literature researchers and educators regarding the works examined.
