Abstract (EN)
In the present study, it is aimed to evaluate possible effects of mobile phoneradiation on oxidant/antioxidant status of rat liver tissue, and possibleprotective role of vitamin C on these effects. Forty females Wistar albino typerats were used in the study. The rats were divided into 4 groups randomly. There were 10 rats in each group(Control, Mobile phone, Vitamin C alone and,Mobile phone plus Vitamin C). Oxidant and antioxidant parameters werestudied. When compared to control group, no significant changes were observedin the MDA levels and SOD, CAT, GSH-Px enzyme activities in the liver tissuesfrom rats exposed to mobile phone(p>0,05). For the group supplied withvitamin C, MDA levels(p<0,05) and SOD, GSH-Px activities(p<0,01) were foundto significant decrease relative to the control group. No significant differencewas however observed in the analysis parameters of the liver tissues between therats exposed to mobile phone radiation only and those exposed to mobile phoneplus vitamin C(p>0,05). For the group supplied with vitamin C, MDAlevels(p<0,05), and SOD, GSH-Px activities(p<0,01) were found to significantincrease relative to the mobile phone plus vitamin C group.
