Abstract (EN)
MECHANICAL PROPERTIES ON FRAME CONSTRUCTION OF MASSIVE FURNITURE "T" JOINTS (Master of Science Thesis) HASAN ÖZGÜR İMİRZİ GAZİ UNIVERSITY INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY ABSTRACT In this study, tensile and bending strength properties of glue joints (rijit) and without glue joint (demontable) samples which are one of "T" joint applied in massive furniture production with frame construction have been investigated. Test specimens have been prepared from the woods of yellow pine (Pinus Sylvestris Lipsky), beech (Fagus Orientalis Lipsky) and oak (Quercus Borealis Lipsky). In the joints with tenon-mortise and dowel, which are one of specimens with glue, polivinil acetad (PVAc) glue has been used, however in the specimens without glue (demontable) the process of joint has been provided with minifix and screw elements. Totaly 240 specimens, on condition that 12 groups which are obtained by using three different wood types and four different joint types, has been applied tensile and bending test. According to test results, that demontable joints are more successful than rijit joint has been found. It has been resulted that the order of success among wood types is beech, oak and yellow pine.
