Abstract (EN)
The research was conducted to determine the relationship between the perception of unmet nursing care and patient satisfaction in surgical patients. The sample of the descriptive study consists of 130 patients. Study data were collected using patient identification form, misscare survey-patient and Newcastle satisfaction with nursing care scale. Data were analyzed in IBM SPSS 23 package program. Within the scope of the research, the mean age of the individuals was 48.9±16.7 and 59.2% of them were male. 96.2% of the patients have a companion, and 53.1% of them are not qualified to participate in their own care after the surgery. The mean hospital stay of the patients was 2.8±1.2 days. The patients' total unmet nursing care score was detected 24±7.4, communication sub-dimension 9.2±3.4, basic care sub-dimension 12.8±4.8, time sub-dimension 2.1±2.2. The satisfaction scale score of the patients was determined as 81.1±15.4. Almost all of the patients stated that they did not experience any problems such as falling, deterioration of skin integrity/bed sores, medication errors or new infections. It was determined that they encountered more frequent vascular occlusion (20.0%) and subcutaneous leakage (16.2%) than the others. There is a highly negative correlation (r=-0.638; p<0.001) between the satisfaction score of the patients and missed nursing care total score. With this, there is a high level of negative (r=-0.662; p<0.001) relationship between satisfaction level and nursing care communication sub-dimension, moderately negative (r=-0.431; p<0.001) among basic care sub-dimensions and low-level negative (r=-0.174; p<0.001) relationship between the time sub-dimension. While there was no significant relationship between the age and length of hospital stay of the patients with unmet nursing care (p>0.050), it was determined that patient satisfaction decreased as the age increased and the length of hospital stay increased. As a result, as the perception of missed nursing care increases, patient satisfaction decreases.
