Abstract (EN)

The study was carried out in descriptive form in order to assess the knowledge, perception and practices of the surgical nurses regarding spiritual and spiritual care. The study was made with 142 surgical nurses work in hospitals affiliated to the Ministry of Health in Trabzon center and who volunteer to participate in research. The data were gathered using "The Personal Information Form" and "Spirituality and Spiritual Care Rating Scale". In the assessment of the data; percentage, average, standart deviation, minimum and maximum values, One-Way Analysis of Variance, t test, Kruskal Wallis Variance Analysis and Mann-Whitney U test were used. Surgical nurses were determined to be above average to spirituality and spiritual care of the level of perception. It was determined that the rate of nurses who have training during the education period and postgraduation was low and knowledge level of nurses on this issue was not sufficient. It was determined that majority of surgical nurses gave care in clinicals for spiritual and spiritual care, but the rate of practice in clinicals was less. A statistically meaningful difference was found in the mean scores of the religious subscales of the surgical nurses according to their age, education level, worked clinic and duration of work in the profession (p<0.05). Awareness of nurses on this issue can be increased by giving more place to the concept of spirituality and spiritual care in nursing education and improving their practical skills by providing in service training to nurses working in the clinic.
