The research conducted between August 2020 and December 2021, and the data were collected with a Personal Information Form, the Beck Depression Scale, and the Humor Styles Scale. ANOVA, t test, the Kolmogorov Smirnov test, the Duncan test, and correlation and regression analyses were used in the evaluation of the data. Results: As a result of the study, moderate depression was found in 48.7% of the surgical nurses. Humor sub-dimension score was 38.72 ± 8.74; self-enhancing humor sub-dimension score was 32.20 ± 8.65; self-destructive humor subscale score was 25.61 ± 8.53; and offensive humor sub-dimension score was 22.48 ± 7.92. According to the regression analysis, it was calculated that 29.6% (R2=0.296) of the Beck Depression Score was explained by the self-destructive humor sub-dimension score. There was a moderate positive correlation between the self-destructive humor sub-dimension and depression. Conclusion: It was found that as the use of self-destructive humor increased, depression increased. It was determined that positive humor styles and depression score were negatively related.
