Abstract (EN)

Cables often used in many areas such as energy and electronics, has been involved in several fire disasters and sometimes contributes to the spread as the source of the fire. According to T.R. Fire Protection Regulations, the use of non-flammable and fire resistant cables has become mandatory in many areas since 2002. Therefore, the need to develop and improve the content of the wide range of uses with flame retardant properties of PVC cables is born. In this thesis, making the production of PVC blended various flame retardant composites were compared. For this purpose boron phosphate synthesized by microwave method was performed to be used as flame retardant. Followed by; zinc borate (ZB), boron phosphate (BF), magnesium borate (ADM), trimethyl borate (TMB), sepiolite, triphenyl phosphate (TFF), antimony trioxide (ANT) and aluminum trihidrate (ATH) doped 64 different PVC cable compositions were formed to determine combustion properties with limiting oxygen index (LOI) test. By the evaluation results of synergistic effects, 16 different combinations of improved flame retardant properties of the composite were determined. According to test results, reference PVC cables' LOI values were while at % 22.20; with 2% addition to matrix material, antimony and trimethyl borate, this value was increased to 30.20% which yielded best results.
