Abstract (EN)
In this study, the phenylazo dyes were prepared by coupling various indole derivatives with 4-substitue aniline derivatives diazotized in dilute HCl/NaNO2. The compounds were characterized by spectrophotometric methods and mass spectroscopy. Visible absorption spectra of the dyes were examined in various solvents and the absorption maxima of dyes were observed to shift to more long wavelength in DMSO and acidic methanolic solution. In addition, the effects of substituent and acid-base on the absorption spectra of the dyes were also examined.
