Abstract (EN)

The observance of the context is one of the most important principles that contributes to the correct understanding and interpreting the Qur'ān. Because they have a direct or indirect contact with their historical frameworks, every part of statement that precede or follow a given word and other elements. In this respect, it is highly probable to obtain false interpretations if the contextual knowledge is not observed. In this study, we dealt from the perspective of contextual reading with the interpreations related to the sciences of kalam and fiqh and relations between verses of the Qur'ān in the Ahkām al-Qurān by Abū Bakr Ahmad Ibn Ali ar-Rāzī al-Jassās which is widely accepted by other Islamic disciplines. We also investigated the reasons behind these explanations and examined the correctness of them in the light of principles of Qur'ānic exegesis. Apart from that, we determined the correlations between the inferences that al-Jassās drew from the verses and the school of jurisprudence that he affiliated. In addition, we indicated how ideological assumptions like the desire to prove the accuracy of his own sect and inaccuracy of others affected the way he interpreted the Qur'ān. The conclusion we reached in our study is that there will be inaccurate and anachronistic interpretations if intra-textual and extra-textual contexts in understanding the Qur'ān are disregarded. When the Qur'ānic text is read only in its literal sense, it does reflect the correct meaning in its related subject. However, the comments by taking the text out of context might add richness to the interpretation of the Qur'ān and develope the freedom of thought and ideas although it is controversial.
