Abstract (EN)

Gender plays an important role in translation studies and researches. In this context, studies on women's identity, place and influence in society are becoming more and more common. This situation reflects discourse, translation in the context of literature. In the translation, the issue of women has been increasingly studied and discussed in different dimensions. When the feminism movements began to express their views through translation, the gender problematic emerged in the translation. It is divided into two as biological sex and gender. Biological sex indicates the physiological features and differences in body chemistry between men and women. However, gender refers to the cultural views, values and expectations, which are imposed on women and men by the society. Translation is also affected by both biological sex and gender. Vocabulary set, language use and expression style of men and women also depend on gender. Different language use of men and women also affects the attitude of the translator. In addition, the language use of women is restricted in men's dominant society. The viewpoint of society and men towards women negatively affects women's actions and expressions. Different expressions, which are used by women and men are reflected in the translation. Therefore, gender problems arise in translation. In this study, we will try to examine Gender Problem in two translation examples. Our consideration will be on the word and style used by both translators. This study will highlight the ways in which translation decisions of women and men, word choice, language use and preferred discourse differences affect the act of translation.
