Abstract (EN)
The aim of this research is to develop the Environmental Education Self-Efficacy Scale and to do its validity and reliability analyses. The sample of study consists of 105 science and technology and biology teachers from 17 secondary schools and 27 primary schools in Ankara. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) which shows the measure of sampling adequacy values is 0.94 and Bartlett?s test of Sphericity found significant at p<0.001. Factor analysis using the Varimax rotation technique was conducted. As a result of factor analysis, two factors have emerged consist of 24 items and account for the 67.04 % of the total variance. These sub factors are scientific knowledge and teaching strategies. The factor weights of the scale items vary between 0,55 and 0,78. The internal consistency reliability coefficient, Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficients was found .97. Cronbach Alpha reliability coefficients for sub factors were 0.93 for scientific knowledge, 0.96 for teaching strategies.Item analysis findings also demonstrated that item-total correlations ranged from 0.63 to 0.88. Independent groups t-test was performed to compare items? means of upper 27% and lower 27% of the group points. The results of t test have shown that there is a significant difference for all items. (p<0.05). According to these findings the Environmental Education Self ?Efficacy Scale can be named as a valid and reliable instrument that could be used in the field of education.
