Abstract (EN)

Ecological design concept by its increasing importantance parallel to the developments in the world is examined in this thesis. Ideas and some projects of Norman Foster who made important contributions in this field by supporting ecological architectural criteria with smart building features are examined in scope of ecological architecture. The thesis includes two chapters named 'Ecology' and 'Norman Foster'. In the chapter of 'Ecology' basic information on ecology science, ecosystems and ecological cycles are given and ecological architectural criterions are explained. In 'Norman Foster' chapter buildings and projects of him that is related to sustainable architecture are examined in detail There are few publiciations on this subject in our architectural literature even though its importance is increasing every day and it is expected that this thesis will provide new perspectives and materials to researches and contribute ecological approach in architecture.
