The mediating role of personality traits in the effect of environmental sensitivity on the green organizational behaviors of physical education teachers (Isparta province example)

In this study, it was aimed to determine the mediating role of personality traits in the effect of environmental awareness on green organizational behaviors of physical education teachers working in Isparta province and to reveal whether there is a mediating effect. A total of 190 physical education teachers working in Isparta province participated in the study. In this study, personal information form and three different scales were used as data collection tools. The "Attitude Towards the Environment Scale" developed by Yeşil and Turan (2020) was used to measure teachers' environmental sensitivity, the "Green Organizational Behavior Scale" developed by Erbaşı (2019) to measure their green organizational behaviors, and the Ten-Item Personality Scale developed by Gosling, Rentfrow, and Swann (2003) and adapted into Turkish by Atak (2013) to determine their personality traits. According to the findings; when the direct effects between the variables were examined, it was found that Environmental Attitude positively affected Green Organizational Behavior, Environmental Attitude positively affected Personality Traits, but Personality Traits did not positively affect Green Organizational Behavior. When the indirect effect of Environmental Attitude on Green Organizational Behavior was examined; it was determined that the standardized indirect effect coefficient through Personality Traits was c1:= ,0062. It was determined that the effect of Environmental Attitude on Green Organizational Behavior did not decrease with the inclusion of Personality Traits as a mediating variable in the study. As a result; in this study, the relationship between physical education teachers' attitude towards the environment and green organizational behaviors and personality traits was examined, and as a result of the relationship, it was determined that personality traits did not have a mediating effect on the effect of environmental sensitivity attitude on green organizational behavior.
