Abstract (EN)
This thesis study was designed to examine the effects of childhood traumas, the share of delinquency and the future perception of prisoners and convicts between the ages of 18-25 in the penitentiary institution, on repeating the crime and to contribute to the literature. The thesis was created to show that the traumas that deeply affect the child are undeniable on her/his future life and decisions, and to help the convicts who have childhood traumas. The sample consists of prisoners and convicts between the ages of 18-25 who commit more than one crime in the penitentiary institution. It also looks at the relationship between childhood traumas and hope status, demographic information and variables. These variables consist of questions about the participants' age, gender, whether they and their families have psychiatric diagnoses, and the existence of a future plan. The scales of the research; It consists of Childhood Mental Traumas Scale, Beck Hopelessness Scale and Demographic Questionnaire. The study was based on volunteerism, and statistical studies were started with 180 eligible people. SPSS program was used for the statistical study of the research. According to the analysis result; There is a negative correlation between the hope-hopelessness scale and the childhood traumas scale. Childhood traumas differ according to the repetitive prison experience (p=0.000<0.05), but the Hope-hopelessness scale does not differ (p=0.278>0.05). Despite the hypothesis that there is a significant relationship between recidivism and persons' perception of the future, individuals with recidivism gave the answer "Do you have a plan for the future?" 93.89%(169) yes and 6.11%(11) no. As a result, it was observed that the results of the hope-hopelessness and childhood traumas scale differed according to the answers to the questions in the sociodemographic information form.
