Abstract (EN)
In general, the political despotism experienced in Arab countries where authoritarian regimes dominate from the Ocean to the Gulf had its effect on many social, cultural and economic fields, but also affected the literary field, thus providing the birth of prison literature. In the first quarter of the 20th century, many writers and poets with liberal, left-wing and right-wing political tendencies contributed to the formation of prison literature by giving literary works such as autobiographies, biographies, memoirs, novels and poetry. Thus, prison literature has become an important part of Modern Arabic Literature today. Despite this, it has not been very popular in the field of academic study. In this study, we tried to find a suitable definition by comparing the definitions of prison literature and to find common features of prison literature through this definition. Then, in this context, we examined the Jordanian writer Ayman al-Otoom's novel, "Yâ Sâhibay al-Sijn", in terms of structure and content.
