Özet (EN)

The aim of this study is to clarify the approach of Cicero, one of the most important intellectuals of Roman thought, to the subject of emotion. Thus, it will be revealed how important the subject of "emotion," which is one of the most important discussions of ancient philosophy, is in Cicero's world of thought. In this context, according to Cicero, the role of philosophy in reaching a mind free from emotions and thus achieving a happy and tranquil life will be clarified. However, it will be proved that the most important way to lead us to Cicero's human ideal is the analysis of emotions. To that end, it will be examined Cicero's Tusculan Disputations, especially the 4th book of that work, and then will be debated the clues from Cicero's other works. Besides, the stances of Cicero will be grounded in ancient philosophy, especially the schools of philosophy of Hellenistic age. As a result, it will be emphasized that Cicero is the most important source presenting the discussions of Stoics on emotions.
