Abstract (EN)

The study was carried out in Cide (Kastamonu) District between 2022-2023. In the first year of the study (2022), it was aimed to determine the superior characteristics of 250 genotype chestnuts grown from seed in terms of fruit quality. At the end of the two-year study, a total of 20 genotypes were determined to be promising. Some pomological and biochemical properties of promising genotypes were evaluated. As pomological features; fruit weight 7.00-11.61 gr, fruit inner weight 5.75 gr-10.06 gr, fruit shape index 0.56-9.67, fruit shell thickness 0.130-0.180 mm, fruit inner ratio 82%-89%, fruit inner color 16 genotype cream, shell hardness 11 types of hard shell, fruit width 16.21-21.29 mm, fruit length 26.73-33.58 mm, fruit height 24.73-30.95 testa penetration condition moderate in 19 genotypes (95%), peeling of testan difficult in 18 genotypes (90%), The separation status was found to be easy in 12 genotypes (60%), the number of fruits in the capsule was 2 in 18 genotypes, and the fruit taste status was very good in 14 genotypes. In terms of biochemical properties; moisture content was 40.93-52.52%, ash content was 2.08%-3.01%, protein content was 3.33-3.36%, total fat content was 0.59-2.11%, total phenolitic substance content was 3.57-5.99% and DPPH content was 4.97-10.51%. As a result of the study, it is envisaged that the selected genotypes can be reproduced and their natural properties will be preserved and transferred to future generations.
