Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine eight different translations of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland as an ambivalent text with two target audiences and reveal whether any ideological deviation arising from the literary system they belong, exist. The corpus of the study consists of four Alice in Wonderland translations belonging to the children's literary system and four translations belonging to the adults' literary system. Within this study, the relationship between translation and ideology will be examined within the frame of social and ideological aspects of translation process besides lingustic aspect. Required data will be collected via comparison of target texts in the same literary system. Afterwards, target texts in the other literary system will be evaluated within the frame of Polysystem Theory by Itamar Even-Zohar and Rewriting in Translation Theory by André Lefevere. This study aims to contribute to further studies on ambivalent texts and ideology in translation of children's literature via the results to be obtained from this study related to the qualifications of translations belonging to childrens's literary system.
